Question: Can I order a barn or shed in different sizes than you show?
Answer: You have a lot of flexibility in designing a barn or shed, within our maximum sizes. For example, you can make your barn have a 12X10 stall, plus a 12X14 stall, and a 12X8 tack room. Or you can have a 10X30 Storage barn. We'll try to make you what you need or want.
Question: How soon can I get a Barn or shed delivered?
Answer: Once you place your order with a deposit we will try our best to get your building delivered within 4 weeks.
Question: How do I order my building?
Answer: First, talk to us by phone or email to be sure we have your specifications. Then send a fax, letter or email with a written order, and place a 50% deposit. We'll start work on your barn shortly after receiving your order!
Question: Can I trust you? Is this a high quality structure?
Answer: Our barn builders, J&N Structures, is a long-standing, well-known company on the east coast. They take great pride in their work and use excellent materials. They are competent, honest craftsmen. Quick Barns, LLC is a family-owned company with 30 years of experience in the horse business. We work hard to be sure each customer is thoroughly satisfied with the barn they buy.
Question: How far do you deliver your barns?
Answer: Because our barns are Amish-built and not subbed out to
other companies, we only ship to the East Coast.
We can ship our barns only to these states:
PA, NJ, MD, DE, VA, WV, CT, NY, MA, NH, VT, TN, SC, FL, RI & NC.
Question: There are metal barns and wooden barns available. What do you recommend?
Answer: We consider wood to be the best material for horse barns because of the following characteristics: it stays cooler in summer and warmer in winter, virtually has no condensation, is quieter during storms, safer than metal (has less chance to injure your horse when kicked) and more durable (will not dent or puncture easily).
Question: What size stalls do you recommend for horses?
Answer: For ponies and small horses you can use a 10X10, if they are not stalled a lot. Horses generally do best in stalls that are a minimum of 12X12. We put our own horses in 12X14 stalls, and we recommend that size as a minimum for horses over 16H or foaling stalls. We can make barns in a 14' wide configuration if you need even more space.
Question: Do I need any ventilation for my barn?
Answer: It is always a good idea to have some type of vents in your horse barn such as ridge vent or gable vents. Even though you can always open windows and top halves of the Dutch doors in your barn, the heat would escape the best through the ridge vent. For metal roofs, we use double-bubble insulation in order to keep the barn cooler in summer heat (this insulation helps keep the barn about 10 degrees cooler).
Question: What kind of roofing choices do I have?
Answer: 25 year shingles are standard. We also offer 30 year asphalt architectural shingles 10 colors, cedar shake shingles and metal roof with choices of 20 different colors.
Question: How much space do I need to provide in order for you to deliver and place the barn on our property?
Answer: Please see detailed information under Delivery
Question: After I place an order, how long would I have to wait for my barn to be delivered?
Answer: We strive to get your building out to you within 4 weeks, sometimes a little quicker. In high season (fall) it may take a week or two more, but we will let you know when you order.
Question: What is the roof's snow load & wind load on your barns?
Answer: With standard 2" x 4" rafters the snow load is 30lbs. With optional 2" x 6" rafters the snow load is increased to 50lbs. We can increase the snow load to 75 lbs if we fasten a collar tie on every rafter. The wind load with standard 30 year shingles - 70 mph and metal roof - 110 mph.
Question: Is foundation needed for these barns?
Answer: Our barns are built on top of pressure treated 6" x 6" sills and are built heavy (12' x 36' barn weighs approx. 13,000 lbs.). Please check to see if your local govt. dept requires you to have a foundation or tie-down. Most do not. The majority of our clients place their buildings on a level, graded site with a few inches of sand, clay or gravel to enhance drainage.
Question: What do most people use inside of stalls?
Answer: Most clients put rubber mats in the stalls over a sand or sand/clay base. Rubber pavers also make nice footing. Some people put shavings on sand and do not put any footing at all other than that - it really depends on the kind of soil and drainage that you have in your area.
Question: Can your barns be moved after they are in place?
Answer: Moving a big barn would be extremely difficult. It is possible but only with the right equipment. The storage sheds and run-ins can be moved more easily, but again, you need the right equipment for the job. Our builders may move your Quick Barn structures for you if need be, depending on the feasibility of the job. All our buildings come with tow hooks on each corner to facilitate this.
